Handicraft

The municipality of Arouca is a territory with a strong cultural and ethnological identity, which is represented in the different arts and crafts, such as the linen pieces, the hand and machine embroidery, the slate handicrafts, the basketry and the wooden miniatures. These products have gained relevance throughout the centuries and became inseparable from the present and past history of this region and its people. In a joint effort to keep our ancestors’ memories alive, special those who prepared and constructed our lands, activities are created and promoted in order to enhance the quality, authenticity, creativity in innovation and the incorporation of the production techniques of the products inspired in the Arouca Geopark (the entire Arouca’s heritage).
