Arda River

From where the Gondim stream, the Marialva River and the Silvares stream join to form the Arda River, no one would say this water course extends through 36 kilometers, until it flows into the Douro River. The Arda has always represented the Arouca landscape, proud of its river, molding and watering the banks, which have always been considered fertile, starting by the lands of the Arouca Monastery. There, the mill and the oil press made use of its waters. Further ahead, the Urtigosa River joins these waters, from South to North, in a travel to Pedorido (Castelo de Paiva).
