Summary: Nowadays, the wind power is considered one of the most important natural sources of energy for being renewable, and it has been used since ancient times. Currently it is used, among others, for the electric power supply, making a significant contribution to reducing the environmental impact and the sustainable development. This field trip will guide you through the Serra da Freita Wind Farm, and will help you to understand the transformation of the wind power into electric power. It also includes the visit to the geosite of Detrelo da Malhada Panoramic, from where you’ll have a privileged view over the Arouca town.

Notes: 

  • The displacement between the different points of this field trip is carried out in the group bus;
  • The proposed visit does not include the entrance inside the wind turbines of the Wind Farm;
  • The visit to the central command building of the Wind Farm is made in groups of 20 people, in partnership with the company Iberwind SA and requires prior authorization from this entity;
  • The visit to the central command building of the Wind Farm requires prior knowledge of the rules for visiting this space and the signing of a Term of Responsibility by the School, by the teacher responsible for the visit;
  • Each bus will be accompanied by a guide;
  • For each program, a maximum of 50 students and a minimum of 15 students are admitted per monitor. For lower or higher numbers of participants, contact the services;
  • In case of rain, snow, thunderstorm or a lot of rain forecast
