História Calvary
The Calvary of Arouca is representative of the space where Christ was crucified, on the central cross, between the two thieves. Owned by the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Arouca and a Property of Public Interest since 1960, its construction dates back to the 17th century. The pulpit and shrines were added in the mid-20th century (1943). A highlight of visits to the historic center of Arouca, due to the panoramic view from the Garden of Olives, it is also the climax of the Easter experience, in the context of the Procession of the Bonfires, where you can hear the sermon.
