Conheça Janarde

With its distinct personality, as if its strong face were watching the river with the attention of a watchman, Janarde has its schist houses stretching along a spur of land towards the river. In fact, the Paiva River has this charm, making these little magical brown and gray labyrinths grow on its banks, where small churches always take center stage, like the whitewashed Chapel of São Barnabé, which welcomes anyone who visits Janarde. The patron saint’s feast continues to be organized by the people of the village, so that it remains one of the highlights of community life. Janarde, like most of the traditional villages that dot this side of the Arouca Geopark, is no longer a lost village.
