Percurso Arda Valley and West Zone

The region of the Arda Valley and West Zone holds evidence of different ages of human occupation. We have to go back to the Neolithic period to find the origins of Mamoa 1 de Aliviada, a national monument since 1992.

From the Bronze Age to the Modern Period, the Castro de São João de Valinhas was occupied throughout these periods. From the Roman period, the highlights in this region are the Casal Romano da Malafaia, the Epígrafe Romana de Fermedo and the Calçada Romana do Cruzeiro.

The Memorial of Santo António, the Tower of the Moors and the Church of Urrô are examples of monuments from the Middle Ages and, at a later stage, the pillories of Burgo and Cabeçais, marks of the former autonomy of these territories, the Church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição and the House of Anterronde, as an example of a manor house in the region.
