PR8 Black Gold Route

The Chapel of Santa Catarina de Fuste or the town of Rio de Frades are the two ways to enter the “Black Gold Route”. Along this route, whose main point is the tungsten mines of Rio de Frades, which were extensively exploited by the Germans during World War II, we can hear the waters of the Pena Amarela and Covela streams, excellent places for canyoning. In addition to the village of Rio de Frades, the village of Pedrógão is also worth a stop to regain your strength.

Other points of interest: the villages of Regoufe and Drave; “Solar dos Martins”; Ribeira de Palhais.
