15 – The Paiva and its Fossil Marks
#secundario, #universitario, #senior
There are several European geoparks that highlight the paleontological occurrences that arouse so much curiosity among the general public. After watching the documentary “Arouca Geopark: its place in history” at the Arouca Interactive Tourism Shop, we set off to discover the ichnofossil sector of Cabanas Longas and the River Paiva, located in the vicinity of this internationally important geosite. The route through the schist village of Paradinha takes us to the river beach, where you can learn more about the local geology by observing the deposits of schist, granite, quartzite and quartz river terraces, as well as the well-preserved riparian vegetation on the banks of the Paiva.
