Arouca Geopark and Passadiços do Paiva shine at the World Luxury Travel Awards with three awards
Arouca Geopark won in the Nature Destination and Sustainable Tourism Destination categories. Paiva Walkways won in the Adventure Experience category.
The announcement was made early this evening, Saturday, October 19, at a ceremony taking place in Galgorm, Northern Ireland, and attended by the Deputy Mayor, Cláudia Oliveira, and the Head of the Social, Cultural, Sports and Tourism Development Division, Isabel Bessa.
Created in 2020, the World Luxury Travel Awards are one of the most coveted distinctions in the travel industry, receiving more than 100,000 votes every year from travelers around the world. The awards recognize and celebrate excellence in tourism and promote the nominated and winning destinations/entities.
“It is a great satisfaction to see our territory and its infrastructures recognized at the highest level, which further increases our responsibility to provide outstanding, sustainable and quality experiences in this UNESCO-labelled territory,” stresses the mayor of Arouca, Margarida Belém”. “It’s also recognition of the work that goes into promoting and enhancing our territory on a daily basis, a real team effort that brings together public and private entities to consolidate Arouca UNESCO World Geopark as a tourist destination of excellence at international level,” she adds.
