Geological Heritage
The geological heritage of the Arouca Geopark has been inventoried, characterized and evaluated in a set of 41 geosites that represent the value and diversity of the geology of this region. These sites of geological interest, which have been attributed a unique value associated with their geological content, their use (scientific, educational and/or tourist) and their relevance (local, regional, national or international), justify the territory’s classification as a UNESCO World Geopark.
The four geosites of international importance are particularly noteworthy: the Pedras Parideiras (G7), the fossil collection of the Trilobites Museum (G25), the Ichnofossils of Mourinha (G17) and Cabanas Longas (G37).
