European smooth snakeCoronella austriaca

The head is small and not very distinct from the body. The eyes are small with a round pupil. It has a dark line on the labial commissure, which extends from the nasal orifice to the neck, crossing the lower edge of the eye. A U-shaped dark spot can be seen on the back of the head, with the convexity towards the tail. The back is brown or grayish and the belly is dark gray or uniformly black.

Dimension Length: 50-60 cm

Habitat Preferably in mountainous areas. It prefers areas of scrubland with rocks and woodland edges, but can also appear in other habitats.
