Mediterranean terrapinMauremys leprosa

The body and carapace are predominantly greenish-grey or brown with light, diffuse spots. The neck and forelegs have a series of orange lines which are usually more marked in juveniles. There is a rounded orange or yellow spot on both sides of the head, which becomes less obvious with age. The ventral side is greenish or yellow with black spots arranged symmetrically from the central line.

Habitat Low current areas of watercourses, reservoirs, dams and ponds, with aquatic vegetation cover and insolation of the banks.
