SustainabilityVolunteering
Civic participation in volunteer projects can have a significant impact on the community and the territory. Through volunteering, participants acquire new skills, raise awareness of environmental, cultural and social issues and inspire their peers to get involved. Reforestation, cleaning up rivers, monitoring endangered species and environmental education are some of the actions carried out, which demonstrate how volunteering can make a difference. Uniting individual efforts towards a common goal strengthens the community and contributes to a more sustainable and harmonious future.
Youth Volunteering for Nature and Forestry
The “Youth Volunteering for Nature and Forests” program is aimed at young people aged between 14 and 30, inclusive, and is promoted by the IPDJ – Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth, I.P.
AGA applies for a project in this program, usually to take place in July, for a period of 15 days. During this project, the young volunteers carry out various activities such as controlling invasive species; identifying and sharing threats to the ecological quality of rivers; monitoring endangered species and raising awareness and encouraging the population to consume local and seasonal products, with a view to sustainable consumption.
In this way, we aim to involve young people in the experience of transforming the territory towards sustainability.
