Arouca Geopark is featured in the new edition of the Educational Services Guide of the Roteiro das Minas.

The Arouca Geopark is once again featured in the latest edition of the Educational Services Guide from the Roteiro das Minas e Pontos de Interesse Mineiro e Geológico de Portugal (Guide to Mines and Mining and Geological Sites of Portugal), available for the 2025–2026 and 2026–2027 school years. This national initiative brings together a wide range of activities – both in-person and remote – designed to foster knowledge, scientific curiosity, and the appreciation of Portugal’s geological and mining heritage.

With a diverse offering tailored to different educational levels, Arouca Geopark stands out for its innovative educational approach, which combines science, territory, and local identity. The proposed activities include:

  • Field trips exploring geodiversity and geosites, mining history, and environmental sustainability

  • Guided visits to interpretive centers such as the Pedras Parideiras, the Trilobite Museum, and the Castanheira Viewpoint

  • Educational resources that allow for immersive, accessible, and pedagogical exploration of Arouca Geopark’s natural and cultural values — without leaving the classroom.

This participation reinforces Arouca Geopark’s commitment to territorial education, promoting scientific knowledge and engaging school communities in the appreciation of natural and cultural heritage, as well as fostering national partnerships.

The complete Educational Services Guide is available here, bringing together proposals from across the country, in both in-person and remote formats.
