“Illustrate Your School” Contest Kicks Off at EB1 de Arouca

Last week, the “Illustrate Your School” contest began at EB1 de Arouca, under the theme Biodiversity. Throughout the project, students will explore the 14 themes that give name to the school’s different spaces, discovering the natural richness and life that surrounds them.

The first activity took place on the morning of October 15, in Vau, where the children had the opportunity to closely observe the Carvalho-alvarinho oak (Quercus orocantabrica) and the Pulmão-dos-carvalhos lichen (Lobaria pulmonaria). During the field exploration, students discovered the diversity of living beings connected to these native trees, including mushrooms, lichens, decomposing beetles, and squirrels.

In addition to observation, students took part in a group challenge that helped them consolidate their newly acquired knowledge in a fun and interactive way.

This contest is promoted by AGA – Arouca Geopark Association, in partnership with the Arouca School Group, the School Libraries Network, and the Municipality of Arouca, as part of the school project “Bioarte”, which combines art and biodiversity for a more engaging learning experience.
