AustraliaAcacia melanoxylon

Tree with a dark brown rhytidome, deeply cleft with age. The leaves are evergreen, the young ones being of two types: some recomposed and others reduced to phyllodes. The adult leaves are all reduced to laminar, slightly sickle-shaped phyllodes. The pale yellow or whitish flowers are gathered in chapters. The fruits are reddish-brown pods when ripe. The seeds are surrounded by an orange funicle.
