Star mossCampylopus introflexus

It forms dense, large colonies. It has erect, yellow to olive-green phyllids with hyaline hairs at the ends (especially in sunny stands). When the tufts are dehydrated, the hairs on the terminal part of the phyllodes are arranged at a 90-degree angle to the tuft, resembling the shape of a star. The sporophytes are made up of curved setae, which gives rise to the genus name (campylos=curved).
