Northern barbelLuciobarbus bocagei
Elongated, laterally compressed body with a pointed snout. Lower mouth, with thick lips and two pairs of barbels (moustache-shaped sensory organs). The profile of the dorsal fin is rectilinear. The back is olive-brown and the ventral region is white or reddish.

Habitat It lives near the bottom of the river in moderate currents and not too cold water. It takes refuge along the banks, in rocks and vegetation. It also occurs in dams.
