OtterLutra lutra

The spindle-shaped body is covered in brown insulating fur on the back, which becomes lighter on the belly. The head features a snout with sensitive vibrissae (“whiskers”), small eyes and rounded ears. The neck is wide but very short. The tail is muscular and tapered at the end, acting as a rudder when diving. The paws are webbed and the toes are joined by interdigital membranes.

Habitat All types of sufficiently well-preserved continental aquatic environments, as well as the Atlantic coastline, estuaries and estuaries.
