Cork OakQuercus suber

A tree with a broad crown. The trunk is thick, with a suberect, cracked rhytidome and a dark gray color. When stripped it is smooth and yellowish or reddish. The leaves are persistent, ovate or ovate-lanceolate to oblong. The upper page is dark green and the lower page is densely gray-tomentose on the underside. The male flowers are gathered in catkins (4-8 cm) and the female flowers are solitary or in pairs. Its fruit is the acorn.
