Yellow-spotted salamanderSalamander salamander

It has smooth, shiny, black skin with a variable number of yellow spots. It has a large, flat head with protruding eyes and sturdy limbs, with four toes on its forelegs and five on its hind legs. The parotid glands, responsible for producing toxic substances, are large and have clearly visible dark pores.

Dimension Max. length: 17 cm

Habitat Mountainous, damp and shady areas, such as deciduous woodland near streams and ponds. It also occurs in marshes, meadows, agricultural fields, pine forests and cork oaks.
