You can learn about the evolution of Arouca Geopark from the geosites of Serra da Freita and raise awareness of the importance and need to adopt collective and individual measures to preserve the natural heritage, increase resilience and adaptability and reduce the risks of natural disasters, promoting sustainable development. In this field, Early Warnings are of the utmost importance, which is why the field trip includes a visit to the Arouca Weather Radar, an IPMA – Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere infrastructure and a panoramic geosite, where we can learn more about the technical operation and importance of this equipment in the fields of weather forecasting and surveillance.
