36 – In Search of the Paiva Valley Crusaders with Why Not on Nature

It all started with the trilobites, an extinct class of marine arthropods that lived hundreds of millions of years ago. They were one of the first multicellular organisms to inhabit the oceans, existing during the Paleozoic period. The trilobites had a segmented body and hard shell and played important roles in the marine ecosystems of that time, their feeding and locomotion tracks: the Cruziana. The Cruziana of the Paiva Valley are a geological treasure that takes us back millions of years, highlighting the history of planet Earth and the beginnings of multicellular life as we know it. When exploring the Paiva Valley, you can marvel at the impressive diversity of shapes and textures present in the Cruziana. The parallel and intersecting grooves, undulations and sinuous patterns provide an intriguing visual spectacle. This rocky landscape offers a real journey back in time, allowing us to understand the geological history of the region.

- Route of around 3 km;
- In the event of adverse weather conditions, we complement the trilobite museum with the Municipal Museum in the village of Arouca;
- 25% charge in the event of cancellation by the school;
