The 5th edition of the Arouca Rafting Summit kicks off on January 19 and runs until January 26 in the UNESCO World Geopark of Arouca. With a diversified program aimed at promoting whitewater in general and rafting on the Paiva River in particular, the event includes, among other activities, a promotional descent, an inclusive descent, activities with students from the two local school groups and various technical workshops. Also noteworthy are the “Open Rafting Cup of Portugal”, organized by the Portuguese Canoeing Federation, which will take place on January 25 (Saturday), and the first Kayak Cross race (an Olympic discipline) organized in Portugal, which will take place on January 26. The Arouca Rafting Summit is organized by Arouca Town Council in partnership with the Portuguese Canoeing Federation, Clube do Paiva, Just Come, LusoRafting, NaTour Way. It has the support of AGA – Associação Geoparque Arouca, UTAD – Universidade de Trás-Os-Montes e Alto Douro, Clube de Canoagem e Águas Bravas de Portugal, Junta de Freguesia de Alvarenga and União de Freguesias de Canelas e Espiunca, Bombeiros Voluntários de Arouca.
