Geopark Digital Arouca Geopark’s friends of the forest
A walk along the northern slope of Serra da Freita, from the parish of Chave to the geodesic landmark of S. Pedro Velho, allows you to discover trees, shrubs, animals and even fungi. Luísa and Miguel discover the Arouca Geopark forest on a family day out.
“Friends of the Arouca Geopark Forest” is the result of the “Discovering the Forest” illustration competition held by AGA – Arouca Geopark Association in 2018/2019 at the Chave School Hub. An educational project that included field trips to observe and discover the living beings that inhabit the forest, in the vicinity of the school, whose memories were perpetuated by more than 60 pre-school and primary school students, with the collaboration of their teachers, in illustrations and in a story that reinforces the knowledge and importance of protecting the forest and safeguarding the wildlife of the Arouca Geopark.
