Malhada Detrainment

Here, not even the sky is the limit. This geosite offers a privileged view to the north of the territory. With a carefree glance, you can see the Senhora da Mó mountain, the town of Arouca around its monastery, the Arada and Montemuro mountains and, on clear days, the Peneda-Gerês and Marão mountains and, imagine, the Atlantic Ocean.

Drave

The mountains hide Drave, the magical village. The journey here is as challenging as climbing the mountain inside each of us. It is on this climb that we discover ourselves, where everything happens and where we truly get to know each other.

Drave is a place where life was once written in the first person. Today the memories, the stories, the silence and the landscape, so unique and distinctive, designed by nature, remain.

São Pedro Velho

From this viewpoint, at an altitude of 1077 meters, we can see a superb and enchanting landscape. From São Pedro Velho we can see from the Douro Valley to the Mondego, from the mountains of Valongo and Gerês to Caramulo and Estrela, from Póvoa do Varzim to Serra da Boa Viagem. Our gaze “gets lost” in the immensity of what it can reach.

Senhora da Mó

The hill of Senhora da Mó is a 360º natural viewpoint from where you can see the Montemuro and Freita mountains, Porto and the Arouca Valley. The small chapel with Arabic features, built in honor of the Lady who saved a Christian from slavery by the Moors, is overlooked by the cross which is illuminated at night.

Historic Center Paiva Walkways and 516 Arouca

For eight kilometers, the Paiva Walkways take us along the left bank of the River Paiva. On each trip, we follow the zigzags that geology has designed, listen to the murmur of the wild waters and contemplate the unique fauna and flora of the surroundings. Next to the Aguieiras waterfall, the 516 Arouca is an engineering marvel. Crossing it involves a mixture of feelings. The adrenaline of being 175 meters high and the safety of being embraced by the Paiva Gorge, one of the 41 geosites in the Arouca Geopark.
