Wild Mushrooms in Arouca Geopark

Wild mushrooms grow on tree roots, on dead matter and even on the bodies of some insects. They are essential for the functioning and renewal of ecosystems and arouse a great deal of curiosity and interest in human beings.

Last Saturday, October 19, we had a work day to explore some species of mushrooms that occur in a forest area of the Arouca Geopark. The activity included a field trip in the morning and a complementary study in the Science Workshop of the Arouca Secondary School.

Mycologist Paulo de Oliveira was in charge of the guidance and there were around 20 participants.
