Percurso Historic Center

The oldest buildings, streets and alleys delimit the Historic Center of Arouca. The historical and archaeological data available so far tells us that it dates back to the Middle Ages. The Monastery of Arouca caused the Historic Center to develop around it from the 13th and 14th centuries onwards. The monastery, which is the largest building in the region, is joined by chapels with many years of history, noble houses, a calvary and a pillory. Nearby, at an altitude of 600 meters, there is a chapel with Arabic features, on Monte da Senhora da Mó, from where you can see the beauty of the Historic Centre and the surrounding valley.
