Description: Presents a gray brown color bark. The leaves are simple with short petiole and cracked in the deep and irregular lobes that can reach the central vein. They are deciduous and sometimes marcescences, being easily recognized by its dense hair layer in the inferior page, providing it a white color. The fruit is an acorn.

Habitat: Dominant in oak woods and present in other caducifoliate or mixed woods. Preferentially in granites, in interior mountain areas, in continental climate regions.
