Geopark Digital Sustainable food in the Portuguese UNESCO World Geoparks

Scope: activity created jointly by 5 Portuguese UNESCO World Geoparks (Naturtejo, Arouca, Azores, Terras de Cavaleiros and Estrela), as part of the GEOfood Project, an international brand that values the use of food products from local and sustainable agriculture, produced in accordance with the Sustainable Development goals of the 2030 Agenda.

Objective: to introduce some local products from each of these geoparks located in Portugal and their relationship with the local geology (rocks and soils), demonstrating the importance of implementing environmental agriculture.

Structure: the action is organized into two theoretical-practical sessions lasting 1 hour, which include videos and exercises. The first session presents the GEOfood project, the Arouca Geopark and its local products, relating them to the local soils and rocks. The 2nd session presents the other Portuguese World Geoparks and a selection of their local products, relating them to the rocks and soils of their territories.
